At Ferguson Truck Center, we’ve long been known for our expertise in diesel engine repair and major overhauls. Lately, we’ve seen a growing trend: more customers are choosing to invest in out-of-chassis engine rebuilds instead of buying new trucks.
In this quick video, Scott Ferguson explains the reasons behind this shift—and how customers are saving money and avoiding emissions-related issues in the process. Watch the video above, or read the full transcript below.

Scott Ferguson:
Hey, we’re back here in the shop at Ferguson Truck Center. And most of our customers have known for years that we do major engine overhauls and all repairs on diesel engines.
A trend I’m starting to see is a lot of our customers are authorizing major repairs—engine overhauls, out-of-chassis overhauls. Over the past year, this has been an increasing trend.
Talking to some of our customers, the reason why they’re doing it is they’re opting to spend the money now on the truck, keep the truck for another four or five years.
Their reasoning is because they want to avoid some of the emissions-related problems on some of the newer trucks, hoping that the technology of the newer truck gets a little bit better, a little bit more reliable. And then in a few more years, they’ll often buy new trucks.
